Dubai Launches Programme to Train Emiratis in Sports Entrepreneurship

Dubai is looking to develop the next generation of home-grown sports businesses through a new programme targeting 1,000 Emirati entrepreneurs.

Launched by Dubai Sports Council and the New Economy Academy, the Sports Entrepreneurship Programme will provide young Emiratis with academic and practical training covering how to establish, manage and grow companies across the sector.

Participants will also gain access to investors and experienced entrepreneurs, creating a pathway from developing an idea through to building a sustainable business.

The initiative forms part of the wider “UAE: Capital of Entrepreneurship in the World” campaign, which aims to train 10,000 Emirati citizens and strengthen the country’s startup and SME ecosystem.

It also supports the Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, which includes developing national talent and increasing opportunities for private-sector participation and investment in sport.

Qais Al Dhalai, President of the Asian Rugby Federation, took part in the launch, sharing experience around sports investment and the opportunities available within the UAE market.

Dubai has established itself as a major destination for international sporting events, organisations and facilities. The new initiative adds another element to that strategy by focusing on the people and companies behind the industry, with the aim of creating more locally developed sports businesses and commercial expertise.
