Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Jeddah on April 4 for talks focused on sports cooperation, football development and future international partnerships. Also present were Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Saudi Arabia’s minister of sport, and Yasser Al-Misehal, president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The discussion covered cooperation with FIFA, opportunities to further develop the sector and ways to grow the game at both grassroots and professional level. The attendance placed the meeting across political leadership, the ministry of sport, the national federation and football’s global governing body.
This sits within a much broader football agenda. Saudi Arabia’s push in the sport now stretches across infrastructure, hosting ambition, international partnerships and ongoing engagement with the game’s top institutions. The Jeddah discussion adds to that picture by bringing senior leadership, the sports ministry, the national federation and FIFA into the same conversation. In practical terms, that is how long-term position is built in football: through continued access, alignment and visibility at the top of the game.
