Saudi Pro League International TV Revenues Jump 20%

ree

The Saudi Pro League has secured a 20 percent increase in its international broadcast rights revenue ahead of the 2025/26 season. The league now operates with 37 distinct international media agreements, with expanded reach into more than 180 territories worldwide.

This revenue uptick signals that the Saudi Pro League is steadily evolving from a regionally ambitious competition into a more globally recognized football product. It underscores the league’s ability to attract new broadcast partners and deepen its penetration in strategic markets. The expansion comes on the back of high-profile player signings, aggressive media strategies, and a clear push by Saudi football authorities to build both prestige and market access beyond the Gulf.

Among the key deals driving this expansion are long-term contracts with broadcasters such as Fox Sports in the Americas (a six-season deal), and multi-year deals with Globo and Band in Brazil, Movistar+ in Spain, SPOTV across Asia, and Fancode in India. The league is also pioneering distribution approaches: in some markets, free-to-air platforms or creator-led streaming (e.g. using YouTube or local content creators) are part of the mix, amplifying exposure in regions where pay-TV penetration or subscription models lag behind.

For league leadership, the new revenue figures are more than just good news - they validate the strategic investments made in brand building, marquee player recruitment, and media infrastructure. The CEO of the Saudi Pro League has framed these partnerships as a shift into “a new era of global visibility.” The fact that broadcasters across multiple continents are locking in deals for several seasons suggests growing confidence that the league can maintain viewership, advertiser appeal, and relevance outside its traditional base.

That said, the league still faces challenges. Sustaining viewer interest beyond novelty or marquee fixtures is critical. Some markets might see Saudi broadcasts initially driven by star power or curiosity - whether audiences stick around for the regular rhythm of mid-table matches remains a test. Moreover, the league must ensure consistent competitive quality, stadium experience, and media production values to match expectations in mature markets.
