Saudi Pro League opens live matches to new distributors in 16 markets

The Saudi Pro League has introduced a direct-to-consumer distribution model that allows approved creators, clubs, players and publishers to sell access to live matches across 16 international markets.

The league is using Recast’s payment and entitlement technology to distribute games beyond its existing broadcaster agreements. Supporters will be able to purchase individual live matches on a pay-per-view basis through participating digital channels rather than taking a full subscription.

Under the model, the Saudi Pro League controls pricing and geographic availability while Recast manages access rights and the real-time division of revenue between the league and approved distributors. Participants can share match links with their audiences and earn a proportion of the revenue generated through those purchases.

The approach turns clubs, players and content creators into additional sales channels for the league’s international rights. It is designed to reach territories where a traditional broadcast agreement may not provide sufficient coverage or where audiences are dispersed across multiple platforms.

The initial launch covers 16 markets, although the Saudi Pro League and Recast have not published the full territory list, match pricing, revenue shares or the financial terms of their agreement. Existing rights arrangements will continue to determine availability in contracted broadcast markets.

The launch adds a flexible transactional layer to the league’s international distribution strategy, combining central control of the live product with performance-based revenue for the partners that direct fans to it.
