Ticketmaster secures Qatar 2027 FIBA World Cup contract

Ticketmaster has been appointed as the official ticketing partner of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar, adding a major technology and event-access provider to preparations for the tournament.
The Live Nation-owned company will deliver a fully digital ticketing system covering purchasing, mobile delivery and entry across all four competition venues in Doha.
Tickets will be secured inside the tournament’s official mobile application using Ticketmaster’s SafeTix technology. The rotating digital tickets are designed to reduce fraud, duplication and unauthorised resale while providing supporters with faster access to venues.
Ticketmaster will also deploy its TM Entry system across the tournament, alongside operational teams providing on-site support. Its wider marketing network will be used to promote ticket availability and drive international sales.
The company processes approximately 600 million tickets annually across more than 35 countries, working with sports teams, venues, artists and major international events.
Qatar 2027 will feature 32 national teams competing across 92 games over 17 days. The tournament begins on 27 August 2027 and will become the first FIBA Basketball World Cup staged in the Middle East and North Africa.
It will also be the largest edition held entirely within one city, allowing supporters to attend multiple games without travelling between host regions.
The agreement adds another established international technology provider to Qatar’s major-event infrastructure as the country prepares to build on its experience hosting the FIFA World Cup and other global competitions.
