Beckham and Neville Lead Salford City Takeover

Salford City FC has entered a transformative chapter following its acquisition by a high-profile consortium led by David Beckham and Gary Neville. The new ownership group comprises nine members, including prominent figures such as Declan Kelly, Lord Mervyn Davies, and India's Dream Sports Group. This strategic move aims to propel the League Two club towards sustainable growth and higher-tier competition.

Beckham and Neville, both integral to the club's previous ownership under the 'Class of '92', have now assumed leading roles in this fresh consortium. Notably, former teammates Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and Phil Neville have stepped back from ownership but will continue contributing in various capacities within the club's operations. The departure of Singaporean businessman Peter Lim, who previously held a significant stake, paved the way for this new investment structure.

The consortium's composition reflects a blend of football heritage and global business acumen. Alongside Beckham and Neville, the group includes Declan Kelly, a seasoned entrepreneur, and Lord Mervyn Davies, former UK government minister and current chairman of the Lawn Tennis Association. Their combined expertise is expected to enhance the club's strategic direction and commercial viability.

A key addition to the ownership is Dream Sports Group, marking its first foray into European football. This move signifies the increasing convergence between sports and technology sectors, with Dream Sports bringing a wealth of experience in digital fan engagement and sports tech innovation.

The new owners have pledged significant investment into the club's infrastructure, team development, and community initiatives. Their vision encompasses not only on-field success but also the establishment of Salford City FC as a sustainable and community-centric club. Plans are underway to appoint a new CEO and implement strategies aimed at achieving promotion to higher leagues within the next five years.

Beckham and Neville's deeper involvement is anticipated to attract further investment and elevate the club's profile both domestically and internationally.
