David Beckham's IM8 Secures US$1bn Growth Financing

David Beckham's wellness company IM8 has secured a US$1 billion growth financing facility from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund (CVF), providing one of the largest non-dilutive capital commitments ever made to a consumer wellness business. Unlike a traditional venture capital investment, the facility enables IM8 to accelerate customer acquisition and international expansion without issuing additional equity or diluting existing shareholders.

The financing is structured around General Catalyst's innovative Customer Value Fund, which finances customer acquisition costs rather than taking an ownership stake in the business. Capital is deployed as IM8 scales, with repayments linked to revenues generated from newly acquired customer cohorts rather than fixed debt repayments. The model is designed for businesses with strong recurring revenues, attractive unit economics and predictable customer lifetime value.

The announcement follows a period of rapid commercial growth for IM8. The company has exceeded US$200 million in revenue within 18 months of launch, surpassed US$100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in just 11 months, and now expects to generate US$210–220 million in revenue during 2026, with an exit run-rate approaching US$300 million. The business has also reported more than 50 million servings sold, approximately 200,000 daily servings, and availability across 43 international markets.

For General Catalyst, the transaction highlights growing confidence in alternative financing models that reward commercial performance rather than equity ownership. For founders and investors across the sports, health and consumer sectors, the deal demonstrates how businesses with proven recurring revenues can access substantial growth capital while preserving shareholder value. As athlete-founded businesses continue to mature, the transaction also reinforces the increasing ability of elite sports personalities to build globally scalable companies capable of attracting institutional investment on a billion-dollar scale.
