Disney+ becomes Formula E’s global streaming home across 144 territories

Disney+ will become the global streaming home of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship across 144 territories from the 2026/27 season.

Under the multi-year agreement, subscribers will receive live coverage of every practice session, qualifying session and race. The service will also carry preview and review programmes, highlights, analysis, behind-the-scenes content and on-demand replays. In the United States, coverage will be available through Disney+ alongside ESPN+.

The streaming arrangement will complement Formula E’s existing free-to-air and linear broadcast agreements rather than replace them. Financial terms and a complete territory list were not disclosed.

The launch aligns with the championship’s GEN4 era. The new car will deliver 600kW of power, equivalent to more than 815 horsepower, and is expected to accelerate from zero to 60mph in approximately 1.8 seconds. Formula E’s 2026/27 calendar contains 21 races across 13 cities, beginning in Jeddah on 18 December 2026 and ending in Tokyo on 25 July 2027.

Formula E is majority-owned by Liberty Global and has combined a global championship model with local broadcast partnerships since its first season in 2014/15. The Disney agreement gives the series a consistent subscription-streaming destination across most of its international footprint while retaining other routes to viewers.

It also adds another live sports property to Disney’s direct-to-consumer ecosystem at the point when Formula E is introducing its fastest car, expanded calendar and new technical platform.
