Dubai is gearing up to host the most expansive edition yet of the Dubai International Aquatics Championship (DIAC), a major milestone for the UAE’s fast-evolving role on the global sporting stage. Taking place from 27 March to 6 April 2026, the event is expected to attract more than 2,000 athletes from over 40 nations, underscoring the emirate’s growing reputation as a premier international sports destination.

Organised by the UAE Aquatics Federation and staged at the world-class Hamdan Sports Complex, DIAC 2026 will see competitors from across the Arab world, Europe, and Asia compete under the official auspices of World Aquatics, ensuring internationally recognised results. The championship also forms a key component of the qualification pathway for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, amplifying its competitive significance for emerging talent.

The scale of the event reflects years of strategic investment by Dubai’s sports authorities to build infrastructure capable of hosting large-scale international competitions. From state-of-the-art facilities to sophisticated operational partnerships, the city has steadily strengthened its credentials in aquatics and beyond.

In addition to elite performance races, DIAC 2026 will feature an official record programme, recognising outstanding achievements across select 50m and 100m events with financial awards and official certificates. This move is designed to incentivise peak performance and elevate competitive standards.

Dubai Sports Council and its technical partner, Apex Sports Academy, will oversee the competition’s delivery, ensuring strict adherence to international standards across all races and age categories. Officials have emphasised DIAC’s dual role as both a high-performance competition and a platform for fostering young talent — a strategic priority for the region’s aquatics ecosystem.

With record participation and enhanced pathways to global events, DIAC 2026 is set to reinforce Dubai’s standing within the international aquatics calendar. For athletes, federations, and sponsors alike, the event represents a rare convergence of competitive excellence, developmental opportunity, and strategic showcase for the UAE’s organisational capabilities.
