FastBreak AI Raises $40 Million Series A to Accelerate Pro and Amateur Sports Data Platforms

ree

FastBreak AI, the US company specialising in AI-driven sports operations software, has announced the completion of a US$40 million Series A funding round aimed at scaling its platform across professional and amateur sport. The round is backed by major investors including the NBA, NHL and TMRW Sports, together with venture firms Greycroft and GTM Fund. In addition, professional athletes including former NFL stars Larry Fitzgerald Jr. and Luke Kuechly, and PGA Tour professionals Patrick Cantlay and Kurt Kitayama participated in the round.

FastBreak AI’s technology automates complex operational workflows—from scheduling and logistics to event management and data collection—initially developed for major professional leagues and now being adapted for youth, amateur and grassroots sport. The company reports involvement with over 55 leagues worldwide, including the NBA, NHL and several international competitions.

With the new capital, FastBreak aims to expand its product suite into amateur sports ecosystems, bringing professional-level analytics and operational tooling to organisations that have traditionally lacked access to these resources.

According to the announcement, a significant portion of the funding will be directed into engineering and data-science hiring, global market expansion (particularly Europe and the Middle East), and building out the company’s amateur sports offering—so-called “FastBreak Compete”—which handles scheduling, team travel, registration, ticketing and event execution in one end-to-end system. For professional sports organisations, FastBreak’s model promises faster insights, more efficient operations and savings on manual tagging or third-party data-licensing workflows; for amateur leagues, it offers a leap in access to infrastructure previously reserved for elite level competition.

From an investment viewpoint, the deal underscores rising investor appetite for the infrastructure underpinning sport rather than just marquee teams or championships. As sport becomes increasingly data-driven, companies that provide scalable technologies - especially those with network effects across both pro and community sport - are of particular interest.

FastBreak AI’s scaling from elite leagues into the youth segment highlights a strategic pathway to broaden reach and monetisation. For sports-business stakeholders, the key takeaway is that operational automation, data-driven decision-making and holistic competition management are now central to growth - whether in the NFL or local club-level tournament.
