HYROX co-founders Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste have regained control of the global fitness-racing business through an acquisition backed by a consortium led by L Catterton.

The transaction buys out the majority position held by Infront Sports & Media, which first invested in HYROX in 2019 and became its controlling shareholder in 2022. Technology investment firm WndrCo is also participating in the new ownership group.

Financial terms were not disclosed by the parties. Multiple media reports have placed the company’s valuation at approximately €600m, but that figure remains reported rather than officially confirmed.

HYROX combines eight one-kilometre runs with eight standardised functional-workout stations, allowing participants to compare results across events and markets. The format has expanded from a niche competition founded in Hamburg in 2017 to more than 100 events across over 30 countries.

Infront said HYROX attracted more than 1.4m participants and 1.5m spectators during the 2025-26 season. Its commercial model now spans event entry, affiliate gyms, training programmes, merchandise and partnerships with brands including Puma, Red Bull, BYD and AIA.

The new capital will support further international expansion and additional products while returning strategic control to the founding team. HYROX is also exploring a route into the Olympic programme, with 2032 and 2036 identified as possible long-term targets.
