Australian sports technology company iCoach Software has revealed a 10-year strategic partnership with the National Basketball League as it prepares to raise capital and expand into new sports and international markets.

The agreement represents iCoach’s first major league partnership and will initially see its AI-powered sports intelligence technology deployed within the NBL’s broadcast operation.

The platform brings together sports data, video and tracking information, allowing production teams and commentators to use natural-language queries to identify historical context, player and team trends, milestones and emerging game narratives during live broadcasts.

Over the course of the partnership, iCoach and the NBL plan to explore further applications across broadcasting, fan engagement and sports performance as the technology develops.

The Melbourne-based company is also developing computer vision and optical tracking technology designed to generate positional and movement data from existing match and broadcast footage without requiring additional hardware.

Alongside the NBL agreement, iCoach is preparing a strategic capital raise to expand its engineering and AI capabilities, develop its predictive intelligence and optical tracking technology, grow its commercial team and support expansion into additional sports and international markets.

The company says it is already progressing opportunities across multiple sporting codes in Australia and overseas.
