NBA superstar Kevin Durant has become a minority investor in Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) through a new collaboration with Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), marking a bold new chapter in the club’s global brand evolution. The deal positions Durant not only as a shareholder but as a strategic partner in PSG’s multi-sport expansion strategy.
The investment comes via Durant’s business platform, Boardroom. It aims to deepen PSG’s commercial, cultural and sporting footprint, particularly in the North American market. With plans for PSG to launch a professional basketball team under the QSI umbrella, Durant’s arrival brings elite credibility, athlete-led storytelling experience and global market access.
Durant, a two-time NBA champion and Olympic gold medallist, joins a growing trend of U.S. athletes taking equity stakes in European clubs. His role is expected to go far beyond financial investment. He will contribute across merchandising, digital media and community engagement through the club’s PSG for Communities platform. The collaboration is also set to explore branded content and fan engagement campaigns that bridge the cultures of football and basketball.
For QSI, the move forms part of a broader effort to evolve PSG into a multi-sport powerhouse. Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has spoken openly about expanding PSG’s footprint through basketball, esports and content, with Durant's involvement seen as both symbolic and strategic. It follows QSI’s increasing appetite for crossover ventures that link sport, entertainment and media under one commercial vision.
Durant’s established presence in the U.S., combined with his deep network in sports and entertainment, offers PSG a ready-made gateway to grow its brand in a critical market ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It also aligns with QSI’s broader aim of positioning PSG as a global lifestyle and innovation brand, not just a football club.
Initiatives from Boardroom will also support the partnership, a media and investment company co-founded by Durant and Rich Kleiman, which will help drive storytelling and off-field content creation around PSG’s expansion.
