The Los Angeles Organising Committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games (LA28) has named T-Mobile for Business as its Official telecommunications Services Provider. This partnership is set to enhance connectivity behind the scenes at what is expected to be one of the most technologically advanced editions of the Games. Utilising T-Mobile’s advanced 5G network, the company will develop and implement customised solutions to accommodate the large-scale event across Southern California.
T-Mobile for Business will ensure fast and reliable connectivity across more than 110 locations, including over 40 competition venues, facilitating seamless communication among staff and operations. This includes push-to-talk services connecting more than 15,000 staff members and nationwide secure voice lines powered by SuperMobile. This business connectivity plan includes built-in security, satellite coverage, and network slicing. The collaboration with LA28 represents not only infrastructure support but also a strategic approach for operational excellence.
High-bandwidth, secure connectivity will be essential for various activities, such as point-of-sale systems and ticketing operations that utilise network slicing, as well as low-latency connections between the International Broadcast Centre and competition venues worldwide. This will ensure the smooth delivery of broadcast content to global audiences. Additionally, the enhanced network infrastructure will support Olympic Broadcasting Services as they work with over 100 broadcasters covering the Games.
Beyond basic connectivity, T-Mobile for Business envisions the LA28 Games as a platform for showcasing next-generation wireless technologies. Innovations driven by artificial intelligence will enhance fan engagement, improve operational efficiency and promote environmental sustainability, positioning the event as a testbed for connected-future experimentation. T-Mobile’s leadership emphasises that these technologies will not only benefit the Games but also establish new standards for live events and business connectivity.
David Michael, CIO for LA28, stressed the significance of technology and strategic partnerships in linking stakeholders to the action. Meanwhile, Mo Katibeh, CMO of T-Mobile’s Business Group, described the collaboration as a pivotal moment in transforming how Games operations and experiences are delivered, making them faster, more immersive and more connected.
