Ascent Sports Group has acquired LiveBarn, the North American streaming platform focused on youth and amateur sports. The acquisition expands Ascent's growing portfolio of sports technology businesses and strengthens its position within one of the most active segments of the participation sports market.

LiveBarn operates automated live and on-demand video services across thousands of sports venues, providing parents, coaches and athletes with access to games, training sessions and highlights. The platform has built a strong presence within youth ice hockey and amateur sports, creating a subscription-based business that serves a highly engaged audience.

The transaction highlights the growing value being placed on grassroots sports technology. While much of the sports industry focuses on professional leagues and elite competitions, youth and amateur sport represents a significant market with millions of participants and consumers. Increasingly, families expect the same digital experiences around grassroots sport that they receive when following professional teams and athletes.

Streaming, video analysis and content sharing have become important tools for athlete development, recruitment and fan engagement. As technology costs continue to fall and connectivity improves, platforms such as LiveBarn are helping bring professional-grade digital experiences to community sport.

The acquisition also reflects a broader trend towards consolidation across sports technology. Companies are looking to build larger ecosystems that combine content, technology, participation and data. For investors, the appeal lies in serving highly engaged communities with recurring revenue models and long-term customer relationships.

Grassroots sport may not attract the same headlines as professional leagues, but it is increasingly becoming one of the most attractive areas for sports technology investment and growth.
