Monarch Collective Expands into Europe with Stake in FC Viktoria Berlin

ree

Women’s-sports investment firm Monarch Collective has completed its first European transaction, acquiring a minority stake in German women’s football club FC Viktoria Berlin. The investment, undisclosed in value, represents a milestone in Monarch’s mission to scale the commercial potential of women’s sport through strategic equity participation.

Co-founded by Kara Nortman and Jasmine Robinson, Monarch Collective launched in 2023 as the first U.S.-based fund dedicated entirely to women’s-sports assets. Its expansion into Europe follows successful investments across North America and aligns with growing institutional interest in the women’s game following record attendances and rising media valuations.

The deal provides Viktoria Berlin—currently competing in Germany’s second division—with the resources to enhance player development, infrastructure and marketing. It also grants Monarch Collective access to a key growth market where women’s football enjoys strong public backing and government-supported pathways to professionalisation.

Nortman described the move as “an important step in building a truly global portfolio that advances both the competitive and commercial standards of women’s sport.” Monarch’s approach combines capital investment with operational expertise in sponsorship, media rights and brand strategy.

The transaction highlights how women’s sport is increasingly seen as a viable long-term investment category, driven by expanding audiences and favourable demographics. With valuations still comparatively low, early investors like Monarch Collective are positioning themselves to capture significant upside as the sector scales.

For European women’s football, Monarch’s arrival adds both capital and credibility, signalling that the continent’s professional ecosystem is now firmly on the radar of global sports-focused funds.
