NHL Taps Deltatre for Digital Overhaul of Website Ecosystem

The National Hockey League (NHL) has selected digital specialist Deltatre to take charge of the league's official website and those of all 32 teams. Deltatre is set to power the new NHL.com website using its scalable publishing platform, Forge. The launch of the redesigned websites is scheduled for the commencement of the 2023/24 season, featuring both technical re-architecture and visual enhancements.

Deltatre's publishing platform provides the NHL with a centralised system, allowing the management of its entire digital ecosystem from a single location. This functionality grants editors the flexibility to create and publish content seamlessly from any location and on any device.

In related news, the NHL has also announced a multi-year partnership extension with BetMGM, reaffirming the operator as the official sports betting and gaming partner. As part of the extended agreement, BetMGM will develop specialised fan experiences and utilise NHL imagery to design casino games branded with the league's insignia. The collaboration will also showcase BetMGM during nationally televised broadcasts of the NHL regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Expressing satisfaction with the NHL partnership, Andrea Marini, Chief Executive of Deltatre, remarked, “We’re happy to add NHL as the fourth major sports league in North America to trust Deltatre with its digital platforms, alongside the NFL, MLB, and MLS." He added, "Partnering with the NHL to help overhaul its digital experience is another huge landmark in our North American journey, and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created together both for the League and its teams."

Marini emphasised Deltatre's commitment to operational efficiency and complete control and consistency across all digital assets. The company's partnership with the NHL solidifies its position as a leading software provider for entities with intricate digital ecosystems.

Looking ahead, the NHL's next significant event on the calendar is the annual outdoor Winter Classic, featuring a game between the Seattle Kraken and the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Vegas Golden Knights, scheduled for January 1st.
