Pitchwise Takes 42% Valencia Stake at €1.25bn Value

Pitchwise has agreed to acquire a 42% minority interest in Valencia CF from Meriton Holdings, valuing the Spanish football club at €1.25bn including debt. The proposed transaction, announced on 23rd October, also includes a €100m primary capital injection into the club. Meriton will remain Valencia’s majority shareholder after completion.
The investment group is led by former Atlanta United president Ann Rodriguez and sports executive Corey Woolfolk. Its backers include KKR co-founders George Roberts and Henry Kravis, alongside Penner Sports Group, whose interests include the Denver Broncos and Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group.
The transaction separates the purchase of existing shares from the fresh capital committed directly to Valencia. Pitchwise said the €100m will support sporting performance, long-term infrastructure and growth initiatives. Neither party disclosed the price paid to Meriton for the 42% stake or the ownership percentage Meriton will retain.
Kiat Lim, who became Valencia president earlier this year, will continue in the role. Pitchwise will gain a significant minority position without taking control, adding another institutional investor to European football as clubs seek capital for facilities, squads and commercial expansion.
Completion remains subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals. The deal would give Valencia new funding while preserving Meriton’s majority ownership, more than a decade after the Singapore-based group acquired the club. The announced enterprise value places Valencia among the more highly valued football assets outside Europe’s largest revenue-generating clubs.
