Spiideo has announced the acquisition of Signality, an optical tracking and sports data generation company renowned for its AI-powered real-time analytics technology. This strategic move integrates Signality’s cutting-edge capabilities into Spiideo’s robust sports tech ecosystem, promising transformative advancements across multiple sports, regions, and competition tiers.
Signality’s technology specializes in automating movement and data collection from video content, with a primary focus on football. It has also developed custom solutions for Aussie Rules football, baseball, and wave pool surfing. Founded in 2016, Signality became part of IMG Arena in 2022 following an investment but regained independence earlier this year after a management buyout. Now, as part of Spiideo, it returns to an integrated operational model.
Spiideo, known for its AI-powered automated camera systems, cloud-based live streaming platform, and video analysis tools, raised £15.7 million in funding earlier this year. The addition of Signality’s expertise bolsters its product offerings, enabling a seamless fusion of video and data analytics that is set to redefine the sports technology landscape.
Patrik Olsson, CEO and co-founder of Spiideo, emphasized the significance of the acquisition: “This is a transformative moment for Spiideo and our customers. By integrating Signality’s optical tracking technology with our comprehensive product suite, we are redefining how sports video and data work together. This acquisition accelerates our mission to deliver powerful, cloud-based solutions that enhance the way sports are broadcast, analyzed, and consumed.”
David Habrman, CEO of Signality, echoed this sentiment: “We are thrilled to join Spiideo, a company that shares our vision for innovation and automation in sports technology. Integrating our data generation capabilities with Spiideo’s product will enable organizations to achieve unmatched insights and efficiencies, setting a new standard for the industry.”
