Formula E has strengthened its technology credentials by promoting Google Cloud to Principal Artificial Intelligence Partner of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship under a new multi year agreement.
The expanded partnership builds on an existing relationship and sees Google Cloud playing a deeper role in the championship’s operations, broadcast innovation and fan engagement strategy. Formula E will deploy advanced AI tools, including Gemini models, to enhance race analytics, storytelling and internal workflows.
The all-electric series has positioned itself as a testing ground for future facing technology, making it an attractive platform for partners aligned with sustainability and innovation. Google Cloud’s solutions will support real time data analysis, predictive insights and digital twin simulations designed to optimise race delivery and reduce environmental impact.
From a commercial perspective, the deal elevates Google Cloud’s brand visibility within global motorsport while reinforcing Formula E’s identity as a technology led championship. The partnership also supports enhanced fan experiences through richer data driven narratives and more immersive broadcast content.
Formula E chief executive Jeff Dodds said the collaboration would unlock new levels of performance and engagement, while Google Cloud executives highlighted the opportunity to showcase enterprise scale AI applications within a live sports environment.
As Formula E continues to expand its global footprint and commercial appeal, the partnership exemplifies how data and artificial intelligence are becoming central to modern sports rights, operations and fan connection strategies.
