Teamworks has agreed to acquire Atrium Sports, the business behind Synergy Sports’ coaching and scouting platform, from Sportradar for US$170 million in cash. The agreement, announced on 7 October, will transfer the team-facing analytics operation to a company focused on technology used by professional sports organisations.

The transaction covers 100% of the equity in Atrium Sports. The price remains subject to customary adjustments, and completion is expected during the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to closing conditions. Sportradar acquired Synergy Sports in 2021 and has since incorporated parts of its technology into other products.

Synergy’s coaching and scouting tools are used to analyse performance and prepare teams for competition, with an established position in basketball and baseball. For Teamworks, the acquisition adds another specialist capability to a portfolio serving athletes, coaches and sporting organisations. The deal also separates the team-side business from technologies Sportradar uses elsewhere.

Sportradar will retain automated video production cameras, automated graphics solutions, certain computer vision capabilities and competition management products already integrated into its wider offering. The company is concentrating its operations on betting, gaming and media, where data and technology are central to its commercial relationships.

Sportradar expects the proceeds to strengthen its balance sheet and support capital allocation priorities. The companies will work together during the transition for customers, partners and employees. The transaction marks a significant ownership change for a well-established sports analytics platform, while allowing both businesses to concentrate on different parts of the sports technology market.
