HALO to Power Scottish Football’s Digital Evolution

ree

Scottish football’s major governing bodies - the SPFL, Scottish FA, and SWPL - have reached a landmark technology deal with UK-based software firm HALO, appointing the company as the Official Technology Partner in a multi-year, seven-figure agreement. This landmark partnership represents one of the first times these three institutions have united under a single commercial and technical banner, reflecting a shared commitment to modernising data infrastructure and delivering enhanced digital experiences across the men’s, women’s, and national game.

Under the three-year agreement brokered by Scottish Football Marketing, HALO will provide its IT Service Management (ITSM) tools across all organisations. The deployment of these tools is designed to streamline operations, improve internal data workflows, and enhance decision-making capabilities - from matchday logistical support to back-office processes.

Beyond operational systems, HALO’s role carries a high-visibility component: its branding will feature on the national team’s training kit sleeves, and during SPFL and SWPL matches, including the Premier Sports Cup and Sky Sports Cup. More than just a logo, HALO will support live in-game insights and statistics for broadcasters and fans, helping to strengthen digital engagement during matches.

Paul Hamilton, HALO’s Co-Founder and CEO, said the partnership is deeply personal, representing a lifelong dream for him as a Scotland supporter. He emphasised the company’s commitment to helping Scottish football “flourish for years to come,” noting that the technical support and data insights HALO brings will underpin meaningful improvements across competing bodies.

Neil Doncaster, Group Chief Executive of the SPFL, welcomed the deal, noting that HALO’s expertise will “power our live matches on Sky Sports and Premier Sports” and elevate the quality of match insight and data available to supporters. Meanwhile, Fiona McIntyre, Managing Director of the SWPL, highlighted how the partnership reflects both organisations’ shared ambition to professionalise and grow the women’s game.

In a broader sense, the HALO-SPFL/SFA/SWPL tie-up signals a turning point for Scottish football. By leveraging best-in-class technology, these bodies are laying the groundwork for smarter administration, richer fan engagement, and a more data-driven future - putting Scottish football on a stronger footing for innovation and digital growth.
